The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet
No matter if you have a low or high-pile carpet There's a robot vacuum for you. These smart appliances navigate your home automatically, pick up debris and clean under furniture.
They come with advanced features such as mapping that helps you navigate around your home and help you remember where furniture is located. They can also increase the suction power to clean up surfaces that are dirtier.
iRobot Roomba 694
The iRobot Roomba 694 is an entry-level robot vacuum that performs well on both bare floors and low-pile carpet. It has a decent suction and can clean up most debris, though it struggles with larger debris like rice or sand. It is capable of cleaning pet hair but isn't as strong against tangling as the premium Roomba models such as the I6 and j7.
The Roomba is easy to operate. It features three buttons on the top cover. Clean, which launches a cleaning session and 'Dock', which puts it in its charging station and "Spot," which initiates the targeted cleaning. It can be controlled with an app for smartphones which lets you schedule and stop/start cycles, as well as adjust settings. It is also possible to pair the device to smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant to control it through voice.
This vacuum cleaner is slower than some others, but can still reach most corners and crevices. It has a large bin that makes it easy to empty. It is compatible with digital barriers and virtual barriers, which allow you to set it to avoid specific areas or to stop completely cleaning in order to prevent it from getting stuck on something.
It's not the top in its price, but it's still better than the majority of other options. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning efficiency than the Roomba 694 and it's able to clean low-pile and bare carpets. It also has a more durable battery and a more efficient route. It is also more durable, has fewer components that require regular maintenance, costs less over its life and charges faster than 694.
You may also want to consider other models from the iRobot range, like the v7 or the 981. They're more expensive, however they are significantly better than the 694 in terms of performance on both low and bare floors, use a more efficient cleaning route and come with a larger dirt compartment, are more efficient to charge, can move more easily, and are much easier to connect to smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a good job on carpets with a low pile and hard flooring. Its combinator brush gets to the edges and corners, and it automatically increases suction as soon as it senses carpet. It also does an excellent job of cleaning dirt off carpet in the middle. The IQ's compact footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are nice touches. If you want to change the floor levels or set zones that aren't allowed, you'll have to manually reset the map.
The IQ's application has advanced mapping and automation features but it's missing no-go zones, which are available on iRobot models. Its intelligent-pathing navigational system results in greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, though it tends to get caught up in rug tassels, and its iHome speaker lets you operate the robot by voice commands.
In our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair well. It was able to eliminate lots of debris on floors that were not bare and a decent amount of rug with a medium pile. It was less efficient with shag carpets. It was unable to reach dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of chairs, small spaces, and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. We did notice that it was a bit slower on bare floors, but it regained speed and performed better than other robots we tested.
The IQ is a better choice for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dustbin and a longer battery lifespan and is better at navigating obstacles. It also has mopping attachments that are able to tackle sticky messes. On the other side the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance and has lower recurring costs and creates virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It can continue cleaning from where it left off even if the battery runs out before it's finished. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be a big plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The eufy RoboVac 11S isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum around however it offers great cleaning power for an affordable price. It's designed for those who don't need a complicated mapping system or an app to control the device. The robot is able to last for over an hour. It includes a remote control, cleaning tool and AC power adapter.
The 11S is slim and sleek, with a tempered glass upper deck that is covered with plastic, which is finished to appear like brushed aluminum. It's a nice stylistic departure from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more industrial and utilitarian.
The eufy11S performed well in our tests to remove larger particles and fine dust from flooring. It was unable to thoroughly here clean high-pile and medium-pile carpets. The device is also prone to hit furniture and people in its path, but it's able to detect these obstacles using sensors. When it encounters them, it stops and lets out a loud beep so you can manually guide it through the obstacle before getting back to work.
Another great feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode that lets you set the robot to automatically adjust its suction strength to match the type of floor and level of dirt. The remote control makes it easy to direct the 11S to the desired area.
If you don't have many furniture in the space where you'd like to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy will spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
Edge Cleaning is another option that can limit the time spent on each area to just 20 minutes. This will extend the battery's life. With this option the eufy can move in a spiral taking care of edges and corners to ensure a clean.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range canister robotic vacuum that can be a great performer on carpet. Its performance on bare floors is also outstanding. It can remove rice and other small particles with ease. The suction power doesn't decrease as the dirt bin gets full. Its air-sealed, allergy-friendly design capture allergens to keep your family safe. It has an onboard HEPA filter and self-emptying dustbin, so you don't need additional filters or a separate bag for your vacuum.
It's not as powerful as pricier models, but it's still excellent for dealing with dirt and deep cleaning. It comes with two cameras in front which provide a live feed to your smartphone. It also has one of the most advanced obstacle avoidance systems. It comes with a large bin, a long running time and an easy, bump-free clean-up.
Contrary to other robots unlike most other robots, Complete C1 can switch between two powerheads, a standard one and a turbo head to suit different flooring types. The turbo head works best with high-pile or low-pile carpeting while the standard powerhead is suitable for bare floors and light carpets. It also comes with an automated height adjustment system, which allows it to easily adapt to different kinds of flooring without manual adjustments.
This model comes bundled with an SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead that can handle hard floors as well as carpeting with a medium pile. The powerhead can also be easily maneuvered and reach difficult spots. It comes with five different surface adjustments and a brushroll-off switch to prevent hairs from getting tangled.
The Classic C1 also has a self-cleaning brush roll, an UtraClean mode that moves back and forth over the same area three times to give the best possible clean and a self-emptying trash bin which can be filled with the touch of one button. The volume of noise produced by this model is greater than other models. However its powerful motor with 1,200 watts of power and durable construction make it worth the additional cost.
If you're willing to spend a bit more it's worth it. Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round robot vacuum that performs better on carpet than the Classic C1. It is better suited for any type of flooring and is built more securely, and comes with an HEPA filter.
